Medical Goldmine

Another opportunity to correct the Obama administration. Below, my personalized note:
Subject: Clarify Your Position on Cannabinoid-system Supplementation

I was pleased to hear that you and Attorney General Eric Holder believe the Justice Department shouldn't arrest medical marijuana patients and providers who are following the laws of their state. But it's not enough.

Embarrassingly, Drug Czar Kerlikowske has said on numerous occasions that marijuana has absolutely no medical value. This not only conflicts with your stated views on medical marijuana, it is a factual ERROR.

The pharmaceutical-industry race to synthesize cannabinoids has served to clarify the safe healing effects of the original holistic source. Bluntly: the mammalian endogenous cannabinoid system *must* be supplemented in order to function optimally.

At this point, the most effective health care reform you can pass is cannabis legalization. Cannabis is a naturally sequenced set of essential metabolites. Its prohibition is metabolic *starvation* -- the science is clear. The reverberations from the single act of legalizing safe cannabinoid-system supplementation will secure your legacy in the history of health care.

When you and Mr Kerlikowske are ready to prepare a populace for innovative expansion, come clean about the lies that have been perpetrated by past administrations, and stop the parasitic practices of an out-of-control pharmaceutical industry, I'm available to present the training materials I'm developing at ELOK (Entheogenist League of Kabbalists) assemblies.

End Oppression on 4/20

Visit the Drug Policy Alliance's Action Center to send the Obama administration a message: the cannabis prohibition must end. Below, my personalized note:
I am outraged that the Obama administration has not yet legalized cannabis use.

The research on cannabis is in, and the evidence is clear: cannabis relieves pain without impairing the user. Compounds from the cannabis herb have been shown to treat PTSD, MS, ADHD, Aspergers Syndrome, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and other stress-related conditions, without the negative effects of synthetic analogs.

Not only are users unimpaired when the endogenous cannabinoid system is supplemented with a naturally sequenced set of essential metabolites, they are more fully functional with safely enhanced reaction times.

Pharmaceutical companies are preying on health care consumers with CB analogs that maim and kill. Legalization of CB supplementation, along with usage education, will save lives and money. Scores of body-mind integration errors will be prevented before the fact, and corrected after the fact.

Please stop the lies and legalize! It's a matter of national security.

Reward Swift Warriors

An official ELOK message in response to NARAL's call-to-action. (All ELOK are advised to follow suit, use trumps and up the ante. Engage Kabbalah to re-wire negative responses, identified on readThrough.)

Subject: Great start: Overturning U.S. supported reproductive enSLAVEment

Dear President Obama,

Thank you for your swift action to reverse the global gag rule!

[Please personalize your message.]
Millions of citizens have suffered because of Rapture Jihad doctrine. The Global Gag Rule jeopardized and eliminated respectful health care, which sets development baths for subsequent generations. Generations that will care for us, when we are vulnerable as elderly and reincarnated newbies.

The ELOK champion your swift lifting of the rule to enable women, the wombs and therefore heads of civilization, to have access to comprehensive health care, including options for reproductive self-regulation.

As you stand with sacred wombs locally and globally, we stand with you. Please take steps to secure the architects of the Global Gag Rule, as your personal enemies and the war criminals that they are.

Note that the ELOK further support arming and training all citizens, wombs and drones alike, with lethal self-defense methods. We support target practice with live ammunition in publically funded schools, 1st grade up. We look forward to instituting the educational materials and training for the necessary overhaul.
Sincerely,
Renice Wernette,

NARAL Pro-Choice america

Dear Renice,

Bush's latest anti-choice act:
An all-out assault on birth control.

Obama can reverse the damage and restore our rights.

Ask President-elect Obama to reverse this divisive regulation.

In late December, as Americans prepared for the holidays, President Bush issued a dangerous regulation that could allow everyone from a woman's doctor to her doctor's receptionist to deny women routine birth-control services.

The regulation is outrageous and out-of-touch, but President-elect Obama can reverse it once he gets into office.

Click here to show Obama that you'll support his efforts to restore women's reproductive freedom.

The new regulation is a tremendous step backward for women's access to reproductive-health care, including birth control. It means our reproductive freedom is moving further into the hands of everyone but ourselves. Insurance companies could deny claims for the pill, hospitals could refuse emergency contraceptives to rape survivors, and clinics that receive federal funding to care for low-income women could even refuse their patients advice about birth control.

NARAL Pro-Choice America has been fighting this regulation for months. But now that the final language has been issued by Bush, we know that a lot of women could suffer.

That's why it's so important that Obama acts quickly once he gets into office.

Please join me in urging President-elect Obama to prioritize reversing this dangerous regulation.

And then click here to spread the word to your friends and family. We need as many people contacting the president-elect as possible, so he knows he has widespread support from pro-choice Americans.

Ninety-eight percent of women use birth control at some point in their lives, and this regulation could affect any of us. We cannot afford to wait until it does.

Thanks for all that you do.

My best,
Nancy Keenan
President, NARAL Pro-Choice America

INDIGnation

It's time to tell Illinois to wake up. Please visit MPP's Action Alert page to send your support for medical cannabis to Michael W. Frerichs (D-IL 52nd), and Naomi D. Jakobsson (D-IL 103rd).

If you'd like to personalize your note, feel free to borrow from mine:

End suffering now.

Please demonstrate your compassion by passing a medical cannabis law in Illinois this year!

The research on cannabis is in, and the evidence is clear: cannabis relieves pain without impairing the user. Compounds from the cannabis herb have been shown to treat PTSD, MS, ADHD, Aspergers Syndrome, fibromyalgia, osteopenia, and other stress-related conditions, without the negative effects of synthetic analogs.

Cannabis compounds fit the human endogenous cannabinoid system like no others, natural or synthetic.

Please stop the lies and legalize!

Sincerely,
Renice Wernette

A Call to Arms (i.e., the pen: Write your Reps)

Required reading for all entheogenists: Marijuana, the Wonder Drug.

I wonder if Grinspoon felt like he had to wait until he was an emeritus professor to speak up, or if he simply discovered the curative powers of bud while dealing with the "wages of sin" (as Christians know it, i.e., the pain of aging and death-causing processes) in his older age (as did I).

Time to come out of the closet and stand up for something that's the right thing to do: Legalize and de-stigmatize.

The endocannabinoid system is the way we are 'wired' for faith. Filling that system's receptors with cannabinoids (CBs) is like learning about G-D by using training wheels. And there's nothing wrong with that, and we can rest assured that there is nothing wrong with it because it causes no harm! Rather, embrace the tools that God provided, and stop suffering the sick and the weak.

Why we think what we think

I finally understand why George W. Bush believes God was talking to him. It was the endocannabinoids talking.

Think about it. Whether you have a high level of the hormones naturally, or you are augmenting your level with metabolites, endocannabinoids provide our sense of G-d, even if, for you, G-d is the shape of the universe.

Call AARP...

Now is the time to legalize cannabis. With so many users over 50 (thanks for reminding us, Willie), enforcing anti-cannabis laws is burdening the prison system beyond hope.

Is right and wrong contextual? Obviously.

For people who argue that cannabis is a gateway drug: no moreso than alcohol. Because the truth is, alcohol is a gateway drug, and it's a gateway to the same hard drugs that we worry about: heroin, crack, coke, whatever. However, it's only a gateway for people who crave altering their perceptions. Call that craving whatever you will: self-medication? avoiding reality?

People who come back from addiction and then try to save the rest of us from their ordeal see their own weakness in everyone else. That's narrow minded and patronizing. Perhaps the biggest difference between alcoholics and drug addicts is that most alcoholics (besides Dubya) understand that they have a weakness that others don't have.

As baby boomers age, they experience the aches and pains of withering bodies. And they self-medicate with cannabis in order to continue being productive. Why is it illegal to use a relatively benign agent that enhances non-competitive productivity? Might as well tear legs off flies and withhold morphine from someone whose arm has been blasted off with an RPG.

It's time for AARP to close ranks with NORML.

The Lord's Work

I think there's a tipping point in religion. We talk about tipping points in other areas of life: in social and business structures, for example. And there are macro tipping points too: points in geological time, like the points where "life as we know it" changed on earth, species died out, civilizations disappeared.

In religion, the tipping point that I think is the most interesting is the point where the stories that have won converts for centuries, in some cases, lose their value, their attractiveness. It is at that point that a religion's adherents use coercion, and ultimately violence to maintain membership and win converts.

Apply as appropriate.

This time

I don't know many people who think they're in the right time. Most people I've talked to think they "belong to another era."

When I was younger, it was teen-age girls who had silly romantic ideas of various eras in the past. Now it's middle-aged men who like to say they're romantic (read: 'don't like feminists') and belong to some golden age of chivalry. Gag and gag.

Then there are those who are ahead of their time. Once we recognize them, we celebrate them, but only from afar -- either in time, space, or emotionally. And the reason we only celebrate them from afar is because... they're kind of creepy.

Rendering Homage

Are we vassals of the oil companies?

Why else would we send our children to die for them?

vas‧sal [vas-uhl] –noun
1. (in the feudal system) a person granted the use of land, in return for rendering homage, fealty, and usually military service or its equivalent to a lord or other superior; feudal tenant.

Is pain real?

Is it only my fear of pain that inhibits me? I would think so if I didn't look at x-rays that show physical limitations.

On the other hand, how can pain be real if we can tune it out? If my mind can shut it out, did my mind create it?

Religi · ah · city

Humility or aggression or passivity are examples of core values that affect religious beliefs. Can we say that religious beliefs are a manifestation of core values? (Not that religious beliefs create core values, although as new generations learn religion their core values are created.) For example, the Vikings', Romans', Aztecs' gods were aggressive and we now look back at those ancient religions and, while finding them laughable, we see them as mirrors of the societies that 'created' them.

In fact, many of those venerated in today's mainstream religions (i.e., those of the Book) were violent: Jean d'Arc in Catholicism, for example. But we see today's religions as real enough to justify war and other forms of killing. Believers are sure that their faith is in something more fundamental than a mirror of themselves. It surely must be a creation of the Creator, and worthy of defense.

As we enlarge our realms through travel and communication, we learn of other values. Through histories, we see how values have shaped societies. We choose to accept or reject new values and their manifestations. When we accept new values, the tenets of our religions change. This process spawns multitudes of religions.

Shouldn't passive/pacifist values triumph on the merits of logic? Violence is not logical on many levels, including evolutionary.

If that were true, why would aggressive and violent manifestations triumph? Unfortunately, pacifists must always yield to aggressors (although some delay yielding by using isolationism). To choose pacifism is to choose obscurity.

Our hormonal states and their cycles disallow pacifism on a very personal (one might say 'intimate') level. In this sense, violence is beneficial on an evolutionary level.

It's ironic that we consider pacifism as an unusual value, and yet constantly report on aggression in the 'news', as well as mark our time (history) with violent acts.

Conversationolic

It took me a while to figure out how cool forums are. It's not real time; it's time that exists in layers of our thoughts. In forums, I can carry on converstions with hundreds more people than I can in face-to-face real time. Just as in real-time groups, our personalities shift (I think we must be driven to make those shifts or otherwise we would be very insular -- not much benefit to evolution) but we can do it many more times in a single minute with the newer technology than we can naturally. Some chemical must be released so we do it more -- addiction. I'm addicted to conversations.
